“Traveling… forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends…
Nothing is yours except the essential things – air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky – all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.”
Welcome to Same Skies Above!
I love to travel. Whether I am flying over oceans to new continents or just driving down the road out of the city at home, I look forward to seeing other faces and places. What I love best is that no matter how far away I am and no matter how foreign I feel in my surroundings, there is always more that is the same about this world than is different. It is always the same earth below you and the same skies above.
As the map above illustrates, I have been to 24 different countries so far. I have done weekends away, week-long holidays and one epic and wonderful year-long trip around the world. Being from Canada, I have traveled to 8 out of the 10 provinces, so you can expect lots of posts about my home and native land. I will also be posting about my visits to the other 23 countries.
Writing this blog is partly selfish; reliving my travels helps pass the time between trips. It also feeds my wanderlust and inspires me to get planning and seek opportunities to travel more often. I hope that it does the same for others.
Remember: there are always adventures waiting to be had. We only have to step out the door to find them.
